Triotique Fluit, Hobo & Piano
Margot Welleman (°1988), born in Antwerp, Belgium, started to play the piano with Jean-Paul van den Driessche. She continued her musical education at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels with Jan Michiels, where she graduated in 2012.
Afterwards Margot specialised with Inge Spinette and Anne Op de Beeck as an accompanist of singers and orchestra instruments. She received the Postgraduate Accompaniment with high distinction.
She won the first prize and ‘Special prize for musicality’ at the competition “Young Solists at Sea 2006” in Oostende, the first Chamber Music Prize from the Conservatory of Porto - where she studied for one year - and Prizes "Maurice Lefranc" and “Venneth de Vooght” from the Patrimonial of the Royal Conservatory of Brussels.
Margot works regularly with singers. With soprano Soumaya Hallak, she attended the ‘International Udo Reinemann Lied Masterclasses’, where she was coached by musicians such as Christianne Stotijn, Julius Drake, Wolfgang Holzmair, Christophe Prégardien and David Selig.
Also, Margot assisted as a pianist-coach intern yet several productions in Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie.
Since 2009 she forms the ‘Izar duo’ with pianist Lokke Van der Ven. They had lessons with Duo Yin-Yang (Inge Spinette and Jan Michiels), Duo Genova & Dimitrov, Duo Tal & Groethuysen, Alexander Melnikov, Abdel Rahman El Bacha, Piet Kuyken, Thomas Dieltjens and others. The duo was recently accepted for the Masterclasses Chamber Music at the Orpheus Institute in Ghent.
Margot is currently teaching in the music academie of Vilvoorde, and accompanist in the academie of Jette.
